Privacy Notice

Last updated: May 2026

Geology.net.nz is operated by Hunua Adventures Ltd, a New Zealand company. We take your privacy seriously and comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What we collect

When you contact us through this website — whether as a candidate registering for roles, an employer enquiring about recruitment, or a client requesting consulting services — we collect only the information you choose to provide:

  • Your name and email address (required to respond)
  • Your phone number, organisation, and discipline (optional)
  • The content of your enquiry, including any CV or supporting information you send us by email
  • Anonymous, aggregated visitor analytics (page views, country, device type — no personally identifying information)

Why we collect it

We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry, deliver any service you engage us for, match candidates to suitable roles, and keep records required for tax and legal compliance. We do not use your information for unrelated marketing without your explicit consent.

Who we share it with

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only as strictly necessary:

  • For candidates: with prospective employers, only after we have your explicit consent for each specific role.
  • For employers: with candidates we have screened against your specified requirements, and only the information needed to evaluate fit.
  • Service providers: our email/form-submission provider, our website host (Dreamscape / DS Network), and Google Analytics in anonymised form.
  • Accountancy and audit: our accountant, and payment providers if invoicing applies.

How long we keep it

Enquiry information is kept for as long as needed to respond and follow up — typically up to two years. Candidate registrations are kept for as long as the candidate remains active in our network or until they ask us to remove their record. Engagement records (client and candidate placements) are kept for seven years to meet New Zealand tax and audit requirements.

Your rights

Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

  • Ask what information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct any information that is wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information (where we are not legally required to retain it)
  • Withdraw your consent for us to share your details with prospective employers

To exercise any of these rights, email rocky@geology.net.nz. We will respond within 20 working days.

Cookies

This site uses minimal cookies — only those required for basic functionality and anonymous analytics. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Security

The website uses HTTPS encryption. Form submissions are transmitted securely. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no internet transmission is ever 100% secure.

Complaints

If you have concerns about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at rocky@geology.net.nz. If we cannot resolve the matter you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: privacy.org.nz.
